Long Lived Parrot Looses His Elderly Caretaker

Barnie was surrendered to Birds of Paradise today.

He is about 35 years old and was purchased as a baby. He has spent his entire life with his Mom who recently passed away. He was not on a very good diet or in a clean environment, nor did he have vet care. BUT, he was once loved and cared for by his Mom. At some point in his early life, he sustained a wing injury that did not heal properly and he has mutilated his feathers quite horribly.

Barnie will be seeing our avian vet Dr. Bonda next week for assessment and treatment. He is a frightened boy, but will soon learn what it is like to live in Paradise.
